Peacemakers Project–Encounter together a regenerative life.
The Peacemakers Trust and Community have been dreaming for years about a regenerative offering where people can come and live, grow and change together.
In 2025, we are launching our pilot residential project.
A 14-week course that makes space to discover the relationships between God, the whenua, ourselves, and others. The project is ideal for anyone 18yrs+ in a life transition needing space to discern their next steps.
The project weaves strands of knowledge, experience and practical skills into a transformative journey for a group of up to 8 people.
Each strand of learning will follow an action-reflection model where participants take some action within themselves, with the whenua, the divine, or in community, and then pause to reflect and learn from the experience and then take further action.
We will dig into the strands of eco-theology, matauranga Maori & permaculture, contemplative spirituality, community living and service to the Parakai and Te Awaroa (Helensville) area.
Below is an explanation of each strand which will be woven together, during the project, each influencing and informing the other to form a strong
kete.
Eco-theology
An exploration into the rhythms of our planet informed by Gods directive to care and till the whenua. Discovering the place and responsibility of humanity in the ecosystem.
Matauranga Maori & Permaculture
The understanding of eco-theology is grounded in Matauranga Maori and permaculture practices. Each participant will have a piece of land to care for during the project.
Contemplative Spirituality
A slowed-down spirituality, contemplation allows us to go at Godspeed, or walking pace. This allows the spirit to work on, in and through us at greater depth.
Participants will learn a range of practices to support their spiritual journey as they listen to spirit, their own heart, and the whenua.
Community
Living with others is a joy, a challenge, and often requires hard work. For 14 weeks participants will reside in a house and learn to do life together as the stages of group formation unfold.
Service
Participants will volunteer at a chosen organization in the Parakai & Te Awaroa area to learn and share skills in a mutually beneficial way.
Workshops will be offered at Peacemakers that are open to the public and participants will help to host these.
The project rhythm involves 6 weeks of learning, a two week break, and then a further 6 week block of learning. During the second block of learning, participants will select an individual topic to research, experiment with and give a presentation about in the last week of the project.
Dates
The pilot project begins on March 1st 2025 and finishes on June 8th with a break from April 13th – 27th for Easter.
We hope to offer a second project from September to November 2025
